My Installer's Verdict

If I were designing a system today for a customer with a GEN24 and high energy usage, I'd still lean towards the BYD HVM.

Not because the Reserva is inferior—it's actually an impressive product—but because the HVM has years of proven performance in Australian conditions and offers greater capacity in a single stack.

However, for customers who love the idea of a fully integrated Fronius solution, the Reserva is probably the cleanest and most elegant pairing ever offered with a GEN24.

Final Thoughts

The good news is there really isn't a bad choice.

Both batteries offer:

  • Safe LFP chemistry

  • DC coupling

  • Excellent backup capability

  • Modular expansion

  • 10-year warranties

The decision ultimately comes down to whether you value:

BYD's proven track record and larger capacity options, or
