Solar Rebates on the Sunshine Coast: What You're Entitled To
If the good news is that solar power can save you on your energy bills, the great news is that there are rebates available to ease your start-up costs. There are federal rebates available for Logic Solar's systems that can significantly reduce the cost of purchase and installation, and right now, the incentives on offer are among the best they've ever been.
Federal Government Solar Rebate, Small-Scale Technology Certificates (STCs)
Queenslanders are eligible for the Australian Government solar panel rebate, delivered through the Small-Scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) in the form of Small-Scale Technology Certificates, or STCs. Qualifying is straightforward, with two basic requirements. First, your solar panels and inverter must be approved and registered by the Clean Energy Council (CEC). Second, your installer must be CEC-accredited.
At Logic Solar, every product we install is mid to high-end quality and fully CEC-approved. All our installers are fully licensed electricians and CEC-accredited professionals who have helped thousands of people throughout Queensland and NSW with their solar needs. They are all direct employees of Logic Solar, no subcontractors, ensuring our high standards are met on every job.
Your STC rebate varies based on your location and the size of your solar system. Generally speaking, Queenslanders can expect to save a significant amount upfront, with the rebate applied directly to your quote before you pay, so there's no paperwork or waiting for a cheque. Contact us and we'll calculate your exact entitlement as part of your free quote.
Important: The STC scheme is legislated to wind down annually until it closes at the end of 2030. The rebate available this year is higher than it will be next year, so acting sooner will always result in greater savings.
Federal Government Battery Rebate, Cheaper Home Batteries Program
From 1 July 2025, the Australian Government introduced the Cheaper Home Batteries Program, making battery storage more affordable than ever for Queensland homeowners and businesses. The program delivers around 30% off the upfront cost of installing an eligible solar battery, applied as a point-of-sale discount. Your installer handles everything, and the saving comes straight off your invoice.
As of 2026, this equates to approximately $330 to $370 per usable kWh of battery capacity. On a typical residential system, that means savings of around $3,300 to $3,700 on a 10 kWh battery, $4,500 to $5,000 on a 13.5 kWh battery, and $5,000 to $5,500 on a 16 kWh battery.
There is no means testing, the rebate is available to homeowners and businesses regardless of income. You can also add a battery to an existing solar system and still claim the full rebate.
Logic Solar is fully CEC-accredited and processes the battery rebate on your behalf as part of every installation. Learn more about the battery rebate on our solar finance page, or get a free quote with the rebate already applied.
Queensland State Government Rebates
Queensland no longer offers a dedicated state-level battery rebate, with the Battery Booster program closing in 2024. However, the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program more than fills that gap and is available to all Queenslanders without income restrictions.
There are other state-level incentives worth being aware of. The Supercharged Solar for Renters program is a Queensland Government initiative providing rebates to landlords who install solar on rental properties, addressing the traditional split between landlord installation costs and tenant bill savings. The QBEST program, Queensland Business Energy Saving and Transformation, offers a co-contribution for small-to-medium businesses covering energy efficiency upgrades. While it doesn't directly cover solar or batteries, it can fund complementary upgrades like LED lighting and efficient equipment. State programs do change, so it's worth checking with us at the time of your quote to confirm what's currently available in your area.
Solar Feed-In Tariffs on the Sunshine Coast
Queenslanders can also benefit from solar feed-in tariffs through their energy retailer, receiving a credit on their bill for every kilowatt-hour of excess solar energy exported back to the grid.
Feed-in tariff rates in South East Queensland are set by individual electricity retailers rather than the government. Current rates typically sit between 5 and 8 cents per kWh, and they have been declining in recent years as more solar is added to the grid.
This declining rate is actually a strong reason to consider battery storage. Rather than exporting your excess solar for 5 to 8 cents per kWh, a battery lets you store it and use it yourself at times when grid electricity costs 30 or more cents per kWh. The financial case for batteries has never been stronger.
